Cardiovascular factors explain genetic background differences in V[O.sub.2]max
Article Abstract:
Factors are explored that may be related to ethnic differences in the maximum rate at which an individual can consume oxygen (V[O.sub.2]max) between selected African American and European American women, matched for body weight and fat-free mass. Results suggest that mitochondrial muscle oxidative capacity and oxygen delivery capabilities, as determined by submaximal oxygen pulse ([o.sub.2]P submax), account for most of the ethnic differences in V[O.sub.2]max.

Validating signals of ovulation: Do women who think they know, really know?
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to test whether women who think they know when they ovulate, really know. The results demonstrated a low degree of concordance between luteinizing hormone surge and perceived ovulation among women who think they know when they ovulate.
